Where Should I Volunteer Part 1: The Raffle

March at last! And this week, with volunteer sign-ups beginning in just one short month, we begin our series designed to help you choose your 2007 Irish Fest vocation. You may recall that we did this last year, too. This year I've asked the folks in charge of the various areas of Irish Fest that have need of volunteers to tell you a little about why they need you and you need them.

Our Raffle bosses, Jayme and Maureen want you to know their
"Top 10 Reasons to Raffle":

Why do you want to volunteer to sell raffle tickets for K.C. Irish Fest? Let me count the ways:

1. First of all, we have the coolest location on the entire site—The Gazebo! (Well, OK, maybe the Green Room is cooler, but only when the bands are in there and the air conditioning is on.)
2. You will be able to find the gazebo to report to work and your friends will be able to find you in the gazebo to point at you and laugh when you’re working and they’re not.
3. The gazebo provides shade. ‘Nuff said.
4. If you’re the type who likes to roam festival grounds you can use the elevated shelter to spot the best-looking festival-goers to approach to buy tickets.
5. The tickets cost even dollar amounts, so you don’t have to be good at math to make change.
6. It’s easy! Everyone feels lucky at an Irish Fest!
7. The raffle is located right beside the main stage.
8. The raffle is located right beside a beer tent.
9. You get to wear an apron and you don’t have to cook anything.
10. Sincerely though, what better way to support such a worthy cause, meet new friends, and help us sell a record-breaking number of raffle tickets again this year!

One small clarification on number 8. Sorry, but volunteers are not allowed to drink alcohol while on duty. That beer tent location information is provided only so you can find it when your shift ends.

There you have it. Sound right for you? Then all you have to do is figure out when you want to work and be ready to hit that keyboard on April 1st.
