Wow, the weekends just fly by, don't they?
What are we up to now? This is five, right? Our Ten Days of Tunes hits the halfway point here at at the start of St. Patrick's Week. Here's one for you trad fans, of which I am most emphatically one.
David Munnelly and Mick Conneely
It's a return trip for David, who played here with his David Munnelly Band a few years back. This time he brings along the great fiddler Mick Conneely. Here's what we can expect:
“Dave and Mick are master musicians no doubt about it, they have the
credentials: the track record, the bands, albums and collaborations, but
here you get more than just great musicianship, you get a dialogue, a
conversation happening now, not parroted lines from some slickly
rehearsed ensemble, that is the real excitement here. Cleary they have
practice long and hard, there are gaps and stops and changes of rhythm,
which the boys hit spot on, but you’d be forgiven if you thought they’d
just walked into the pub and played straight of the cuff.” - Seán Laffey
Sounds like my kind of show. I'll be in the front row. You might want to be, too.
