A month and a day. That's all the stands between you and the opening of the 7th annual Kansas City Irish Fest. I'd like to tell you that a month and a day out that we're good to go, that all our ducks are in a row, that our t's are crossed, our i's are dotted, our other cliches all intact too. I'd like to tell you that but I can't. Because we still need hundreds of volunteers. I said hundreds.
I know in my heart that you've already signed up, because that's the kind of person you are. What I really, really need you to do is to reach out to your friends and family and coworkers and whoever you got and get them to join you. It's easy. It's fun. It gets you in to the festival free, twice. It gets you a free t-shirt. It gets you free refreshments. Entry in a volunteers only raffle. A typical shift is only 4 hours long, leaving you 26 hours of unencumbered fest enjoyment with a clear conscience. Why would you not?
I've given you some tools to accomplish this. Here. Here. And here. Please use one of them, or all of them. Let's get those rosters filled so the Irish Fest staff can stop worrying about whether we'll have enough volunteers and can get back to worrying about other stuff. Like the Labor Day weekend weather forecast.

Here's an idea...come by the funky 39th St. farmer's market this Weds. between 5:00-7:30 p.m., and sign up your volunteer shift at the IF spot staffed by Liz O'Flaherty & I (note to Liz: I just committed us). We will have for you a fabulous past year FREE volunteer t-shirt AND a cool IF sticker for your car or forehead. AND you can sign up for your Snug membership while you're there. Or you can go thru the website... your choice (no free t-shirt though).
See you there! http://www.39thstreetmarket.com/
