Greening

My brother Patrick had this idea years ago for a coffee table book. It would be a series of photos of a certain kind of people taken at festivals. No captions, just the photos. The title of the book would be "What The Hell Were You Thinking?".

While we saw quite a few possible inclusions for the book while we were in Milwaukee, nobody topped the Green Man seen here chatting up Éamonn de Barra of 2008 and 2009 KC Irish Fest band Slide.

Incidentally, a couple hours before this picture was taken Éamonn and his bandmates had played a set that nearly set their stage on fire. If you've never seen this band, whatever else you do make sure you do at Irish Fest this year. Forgo eating and drinking and bathroom trips, whatever it takes. You'll be astounded. Maybe the best performance I saw from anybody up there. And if you're wondering what to wear to the show in Kansas City...well, break out the green.
