11:01 PM

I bet this has happened to you. It's Irish Fest weekend. You've just seen another killer show by Gaelic Storm or the Elders and now...what? It's 11:00. The clean up crew's coming through. The tents are closed. And you? Man, you're just getting warmed up.

The Fest staff feels the same way, you know. After a long day, we're ready to unwind. And I'll tell what we did in past years. We'd gather for a great after party. Some of the bands would come, sessions would break out, the music would play and the drinks and conversation would flow until the wee hours. Unfortunately for you, those great parties weren't open to the public. Until now.

This year we're moving the party and inviting everybody. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights after Irish Fest closes and all the way 'til 3:00 AM, join us at Raglan Road, Kansas City's newest, biggest and most beautiful Irish pub. 10,000 square feet of Ireland imported and plopped down on the corner of 14th and Grand. This is the official Kansas City City Irish Fest after party, sponsored by our friends at the Boulevard Brewing Company and Raglan Road. You can satisfy the late night hunger pangs with some fantastic Irish food. (I was there last night eating the fried scallops. Amazing.) Wash it down with a cold pint of Boulevard beer on special. Listen to live Irish music in a gorgeous setting. Mingle with the great bands you saw on stage at Irish Fest. Buy Uncle Bloggy a beer! Now we're talking.

We'll be there. You be there too. The Official Kansas City Irish Fest After-Parties, every night after Irish Fest at Raglan Road Irish Restaurant and Pub.

Should be cozy with all the American Idol fans at the Sprint.

Leave it to McCarthy to find the dark cloud behind every silver lining. We'll miss you at the party, Sunshine.

I didn't realize this was open to the public. Wasn't there talk of tickets? Just trying to understand!

Here's the way it'll work. Raglan Road, if you've never been there, has two bars, Paddy's Pub on the 14th Street side and then the much larger main room where the stage is. Paddy's Pub will be closed for a VIP's only party where our sponsors and other big wigs can hang out. Tickets will be required to get access to that area. The rest of the place, which is most of it, including the stage where the band will be playing is open to the public, no tickets, no cover.

IS RAGLAN ROAD WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF THE FESTIVAL?

It would be a bit of a hike. The Festival is on Grand at 25th Street, Raglan is on Grand at 14th. Luckily the pub will be running a shuttle bus back and forth until 3:30 AM. You can catch it right near the Boulevard Stage. Ticketed VIPS will get first priority for seats, but the bus runs so often back forth it should never be a long wait.

Sounds great to me now that I see Danny's comment that we have transportation. Otherwise I might end up MIA walking back to the Hyatt at 3am.

Rachel,

You might be able to get into the bar unless they're carding at the door (at that point they probably will be though).
