Bueno

Last night I celebrated my Mexican heritage, culinarily speaking. Along with Mrs. Bloggy, Irish Fest president Ed Scanlon, heritage area honcho Barbara Scanlon, fest director Rory O'Connor, his wife Paige and daughter Maeve and Elders frontman Ian Byrne and his wife Kathy Quinn, I dined in a trial run seating at the soon-to-open restaurant owned by Irish Fest friends and food vendors Ray and Molly Dunlea of The Gaf. The new venture, just down the street from the Gaf in the spot formerly occupied by Swizzle, will be called Cantina del Ray when it opens tomorrow. The food was fantastic and the Margaritas were tasty, though I'd stay away from the one called the Jimmy Buffet. I guess Patrick Murphy was right about him.

The Gaf, of course will be back at Irish Fest this year along with lots of other great food vendors to make sure you stay energized for your long Irish Fest weekend. From fish and chips to Italian sausage, from PB & J to corned beef and Swiss, if you can't find something to eat there's something wrong with you.

Come hungry to Irish Fest. You won't leave that way. And remember, you may not bring your own. No coolers, picnic baskets, sacks, bottles, cans, grocery carts or barbecue grills are allowed.

Margaritas?! Safer to stick with beer, Danny. At least your earlobes will be safer.

I enjoyed the Margaritas, so much so I drank most of the wife's as well as mine. The food was wonderful. The Salsa and chips were addictive.
