Two Down, One To Go

Wow.

Were you here? What a crowd. Amazing night. Not without its problems due to the record crowd, but an amazing night. If you inconvenienced, jostled or delayed by the assembled throng, I do apologize. You put 20,000 people together in a cozy square and things can get a bit...well, cozy's a nice word. Let's stay with that.

Anyway, please come back today. Mass is over, the sun is shining, the music has started and I'm still vertical. Small victories. We're here 'til 11:00 tonight and we're here for you.

Back to work. See you soon.

Wow! What a show by the Elders! The other bands were great, too. Thanks for the crowd control. It was sad that some had to miss it but we couldn't fit any more people! Many thanks to all the vounteers. We had a great time!

Saturdat night was a major debacle. Families seperated from each other because someone went to the rest room, only to be denied return access to their seat.
A Father seperated from his 12yo daughter because he went to buy them a treat.
It was horrendously mis-managed. I left during the Elders first song.

Otherwise, it was a Great Fest from beginning to end!
Excellent music around the stages, great vendors, and helpful volunteers everywhere.

Even with the glitch Saturday night, The best Kansas City Irish Fest to date.

Before we're accused of any more "horrible mismanagement", let me be clear about the situation Saturday night. We were ordered by the Kansas City Missouri Fire Marshall to immediately stop further entry through all gates, no exceptions, because of overcrowding on the Terrace level. We had no choice but comply or risk being closed down. All guests who were inconvenienced were offered full refunds or a ticket to the fest for Sunday. It wasn't for a long period of time, and everybody was eventually reunited with their significant others. We did the best we could do in a difficult situation and hope that everybody who was affected will understand.

I don't at all agree with the 'horribly mismanaged' comment. I have been with the Irish Fests since the first. The past two as a vendor. I am so very proud of us, Kansas City, the Irish Community and the Festival Planners. SO proud! We're one of the big guys now, Chicago, Milwaukee and so on. Can't wait for next year...ALREADY! Thanks for all you did to keep us on the map!
