Over And Out

Kids, old Uncle Bloggy is worn out. What a great, fun, exhausting weekend. Huge thanks to all who came, worked, danced, played, prayed and paid. I'll give more details and stories from the inside later. For now, I'm putting my feet up and relaxing. Tomorrow we'll start working on the 6th Annual Kansas City Irish Fest.

Okay, maybe not tomorrow. But soon. Promise.

Tis imperative next year's plans include consideration of the Terrace level weight limit.
(We do want to become the 3rd largest Irish Fest before too long. eh?)
Is there any expansion area available around the Boulevard stage? Thereby, making it the main stage.
Or, even as nice as it is, has the Fest outgrown Crown Center?

Never mind, you deserve a break today!
(And, a prayer of thanks that the Terrace platform didn't!)

Thanks for the thoughtful comment. Honestly, Jahk, being the third largest (or fourth largest) isn't a priority for us at all. We certainly have no desire to be first. What we strive for is to be the best. Getting to big would make it dificult if not impossible to treat our artists, volunteers, guests and sponsors the way we do.

We were all taken by surprise by the size of Saturday night's Terrace Level crowd, but the way we see it, a whole bunch of people showing up at your party isn't the worst problem you could have.

We've got lots of ideas on making better use of the space in and around our Crown Center home and continuing to make KCIF the best (not biggest) it can be. We have exactly zero thoughts of seeking greener or bigger pastures any time in the future.

Greener pastures tend to have less amenities. ;)

(And those amenities are part of what draws the crowds, seems to me.)

Dan, you guys outdid yourselves. My kids and I were there Saturday night, and while it was CRAZY, the crowd was fantastic. I love the location, but what is the possibility of moving up the street to the Liberty Memorial?

Hats off to you all!

Your old buddy, Pete Buckley

Thank goodness you're not considering a change in venue. We love the festival being at Crown center, even with the snag on Saturday night, and I was one of the ones who was separated from my family. I went to put some food away in the 'fridge at the hotel only to find myself unable to return. Thanks to that great invention, the CELL PHONE! Safety is a top priority in today's world: on airplanes and in airports, and especially at any huge event. So thanks to the fire marshall for keeping us all safe, and to the volunteers at the festival who suddenly found themselves having to turn people away or be the messengers of unpleasant news. They were just doing their jobs. Absolutely no hard feelings here...It was fun, and thanks for the refund--we came back Sunday and had a fabulous time!!!!! It's a different world, not bad, just different......adjust, people!! Be safe and be happy. Thanks for another wonderful festival. We'll be back next year, and the year after that. KC should be proud!!!!! This is becoming a family tradition for us!
