Band Announcement

Remember a few days ago when I told you here that we had one last spot to fill on our 2007 Kansas City Irish Fest music roster? It's now filled, and filled well.

Sunday night on the Irish Fest Terrace Stage we're something beyond excited to present The Saw Doctors of Tuam, Co Galway. If you're a Docs fan, you're probably not reading any more and have rushed off to fire up the CD player and call your friends with the news. If you're not familiar with the band, some background:

Founded way back in 1986 and from the beginning anchored by Davy Carton and Leo Moran on guitars & vocals, the current band is rounded out by Anthony Thistlethwaite on bass, vocals, sax and harmonica, Kevin Duffy on keyboards and vocals & Guitar and Eimhin Cradock banging away on the drums. Back in 1990 their song I Useta Lover became the best selling single in Irish history. The band, through the years and the line up changes, has built a huge and loyal fan base which, in the interest of full disclosure, includes me. I love this band, and have for years. Their live shows are something you won't soon forget.

Huge thanks are owed Irish Fest music master Dave Shaughnessy who's been working on this booking since shortly after the band was formed. Seems like that anyway. Well done, Shocko. We are going to have a great weekend.

Hear some recent Docs music here. And for a taste of that legendary live show, here they are with the aforementioned I Useta Lover.
