Máirtín de Cógáin in Town

Irish Fest barn burner, broom dancer, and buachaill about town, Máirtín de Cógáin of Fuchsia Band fame writes from the People's Republic of Cork to give us great news. He'll be in town and appearing (solo) on Friday, March 31st at 8:00 p.m. at the Oak Street Coffee House, 6221 Oak Street, Kansas City, MO. presented by the Missouri Valley Folklife Society. Máirtín says he'll be "storytelling, singing and making the fairies of the otherworld dance among us for a short spell" and I have no doubt that's true. Don't miss it.

Also, the Fuchsia Band will appear on CEOL '06, a compilation album starring all the big names in Irish music singing proudly in the language of the Gael. The album includes The Corrs, The Saw Doctors, Morgan the Bouncer, Luka Bloom (KCIF 2006), John Spillane (KCIF 2006), The Frames, Mundy, and The Revs, among others. Fuchsia wrote and recorded their first original song, called 'Grá dá raibh!' , 'Love that was!' for the album.

More info on Máirtín's Kansas City show by calling 816-444-0731. More info on the band at www.thefuchsiaband.com. And the band continues their quest for world domination with the announcement of three gigs at the Milwaukee Irish Fest, the granddaddy of them all. And to think, we knew them when.

Máirtín, will we have some Thai while you're in town?
