A Family Affair

Good morning blogketeers. I write to you today from the Las Vegas airport where I wait with number two son for a flight to Los Angeles. I'm delivering the boy to his first year of college. You know this kid. He's the inventor and proprietor of the hugely popular Shamrocker: Irish Guitar Hero game that we featured at Irish Fest the past 4 or 5 years. He also took the game on the road to the Irish Fests in Milwaukee and Michigan. He literally grew up at Irish Fest and now he's off to college leaving the old man to cry in his Jameson in the Irish Fest whiskey tent which is the site of our whiskey tastings which you better get a move on and sign up for if you have any hope of getting into one of them.

The thing about son Tommy is that he's just one member of the extended clan that works (or in his case, recently retired from) Irish Fest. My son Joe worked in beverage distribution. My sisters run the Snug (which you should join because they're awesome). Another sister helps out in the Snug, even providing baked goods, another reason to join. My mother works in finance. Mrs. Bloggy has done time in the VIP tents. Two of my cousins work in the whiskey tent and another cousin in the Snug with the sisters. THAT crazy cousin flies in from Denver every year to work for us. Another cousin is joining the Public Safety team this year. And my family is certainly not alone. We have many multi-generational clans working for us.

So the point is that you should join our family...and bring your family. Volunteer as a group and work together. You'll have a ball. And maybe for you, Irish Fest weekend will become what it is for my family. An big, silly, fun reunion every Labor Day weekend. Complete with matching t-shirts.
