Message From Milwaukee, Saturday

The festival here opened Friday with a bang. Huge crowds, perfect weather. My primary reason for being here is to serve as lackey, roadie and corn dog fetcher for my son Tommy, who was once again contracted by the Milwaukee festival to run his Shamrocker Irish Guitar Hero game here. We had some technical difficulties getting Tommy set up yesterday so I didn't hear a huge amount of music, but The High Kings were a stand out. The MIF is exploring the Celtic roots of Bluegrass music this weekend and we saw the outstanding Punch Brothers last night as part of that showcase.

More awaits today, including the annual lunch for visiting festival organizers, hosted today by The Gathering, the Tourism Ireland effort to call the diaspora home in 2013.

Enjoy your Saturday.
