WinterFest Saturday

I hope to see each and every one of you this Saturday evening at the Irish WinterFest. Hosted by the Kansas City Irish Center and sponsored by Kissick Construction and The Roasterie, WinterFest will have great live music to get you dancing, Irish dancers to make you realize that you should probably leave dancing to the professionals, fine products from Guinness, Boulevard and Miller Lite along with wine that will make you think "to hell with it, I can dance as well as they can", food from Browne's Irish Marketplace, and the mightiest craic since Irish Fest. A $5 bill gets you in the door of the cozy confines of the Irish Center in Union Station for the event, which runs from 3:00 PM until 10:00.Here's the schedule:

3:00-4:00pm…Bill Morris
4:30-5:30pm…The Metrognomes
6:00-7:00pm…Dogtree
7:30-8:30pm…The $3 Band
9:00-10:00pm…Eddie Delahunt

That's a lot of tune for five bucks, buddy. For more info visit the IC's website or call Nancy or Renata at 816-474-3848.

Do you know about the Metrognomes? Who or what are they?

Here's what I was able to find:

The MetroGnomes are a combination of the duo pairing of Gordon Bearss & Christa Kelly Scott from '02 to '06 and the duo pairing of Tom Lenahan and Christa Kelly Scott from '09 to '11.

They have recently combined forces to make a huge and exciting sound. Each member of the MetroGnomes sings and plays multiple instruments.

Between the three members you will hear fiddle, mandolin, guitar, keyboards, whistle, harmonica, highland bagpipes, cittern, mandola, drums, bodhran, and bass.

The MetroGnomes perform original material as well as off-beat twists on obscure and popular songs and tunes. With a Celtic heart in the music, the MetroGnomes take the tradition and make it their own.

Some who will take you up on that dancing challenge...

O'Riada-McCarty-Manning Academy of Irish Dance, the Driscoll School of Irish Dance and Rincé Revolution will be kicking up their heels during the band breaks!
