If you feel a disturbance in the force this coming Saturday morning, it might be because of the annual gathering of all the men, women, and Craig Duke who serve or have served on the Kansas City Irish Fest board of directors. Once every 12 months this collection of kahunas meet (pictured above is last year's meeting) for the better part of an otherwise perfectly good Saturday to talk big picture Irish Fest issues. Important stuff like "Where do we see ourselves in 10 years?" and "How can we best serve our community, sponsors and patrons?" and "Where can we have these meetings where Ed Scanlon won't keep finding them?" We welcome first timers John Hayes and Pete McCluskey to the summit this year and I trust that they've been informed that they're supposed to bring extravagant gifts for everybody. Also donuts.
On the agenda for the day are plans for our 10th Anniversary celebration among other things. If you have a Big Issue that you think we ought to be discussing this year, let me know and I'll present it to the assembled bevy of bigwigs.
