Looking Back

We've been talking a lot around here about our upcoming 10 year anniversary and with talk of anniversaries come memories and nostalgia. Which is why I found my mind wandering today to some of my favorite Irish Fest performers from the past.

In our 9 years of KCIF, few singers can match John Spillane, in my humble opinion. This clip isn't from our stage and John wasn't here with his Gaelic Hit Factory partner Louis de Paor, but I think this a great version of a great John Spillane song.

Your turn: who have been some of your favorite ghosts of Irish Fest past?

The very first KCIF: Patrick Murphy standing in the doorway of the Phillip's, staring out at the rain.

All-time favorites (in no particular order): Saw Doctors, Damien Dempsey, Millish, Guggenheim Grotto, Different Drums, Glengarry Bhoys, Hothouse Flowers, Slide, McPeake... oh jeez, I could just keep going. I guess I'll stop there.

Cara, Old Blind Dogs, Slide, Colin Grant, Beoga, - These are the first ones to come to mind.
CARA brings such a wonderful mix to their celtic music and with new members it adds to the richness. I feel KC Irish fest has played a big roll in the popularity of these groups

I'll never forget Derek Warfield getting "attacked" on stage while singing one of his terrorist songs.
