Ethnosmackdown

Mostly we all get along and sure isn't it grand? Life here in the melting pot, or the salad bowl if you prefer, we're mostly one big happy multicultural soup, if I can add a third dumb food metaphor. Yes, mostly we take our e pluribus and unum. We un the hell out of 'um.

But not today.

See, Irish Fest is once again up for our fair city's Best Ethnic Festival Visitors' Choice Award. We're up against the Greeks, the Scots, and another festival so wishy-washy they try to root for all the teams at once. We won this award last year. We own it. We're keeping it. With your kind help of course.

If you live outside the KC metro area (these are the visitors' choice awards, so locals don't count) go here and vote for The Kansas City Irish Fest. If you're a Cowtowner, tell your friends and family out there in the great Elsewhere to log in and vote. For the Irish.

Now, I have nothing against the Greeks. Democracy, toga parties, gyros–all great stuff. And Lord knows we love the Scots, in spite of bagpipes and kilts and haggis. And even that other festival. They're like that ride at Disneyland, you know the "It's A Small World After All" one with all the little animatronic puppets. And we love puppets. We love all those other ethnic festivals. We just want them to lose. In a landslide.

So vote today! Keep the trophy where it belongs...at Irish Fest! Voting ends when Irish Fest begins, September 2nd. And while you're at it, be sure to vote for Jiggle Jam as best family festival.
