For me one of the highlights of Irish Fest every year is the traveling exhibit brought to us by our good friends at the Ward Irish Music Archive in Milwaukee. Barry, Ed and crew have treated us to some informative and fascinating shows over the years, but this one is really special.
The Kansas City Irish Fest is proud to present the Ward Archive's 2011 exhibit "When Johnny Comes Marching Home: The Irish In The American Civil War."
The Irish, born both here and there, figured prominently in the war on both sides of the conflict. This being the 150th anniversary of the first shots fired in the war, the timing is perfect to learn the stories, songs and images of our Irish forefathers who were there. Don't miss this exhibit, inside the Crown Center atrium all weekend long.
