Yesterday's BA here in our 17 Days Of Band Announcements was a returning favorite. Today we're back to first timers. If you're the kind of Irish music fan who loves a soft, lilting ballad of love and regret together with a sensitive harp solo that envelopes you like the mist off Galway Bay, and touches your your Celtic heart with the gentle hand of Mother Ireland...well, you're in the wrong place today, Paddy.
Today's band will have your arse rocking in the aisle faster than you can say Barneywalshgetmeabeer. Please welcome to the KC Irish Fest family The Mickey Finns.
Songs of whiskey, women, fighting, whiskey, beer, and whiskey delivered with an energy and gusto that few can match. This isn't wipe-your-tears music, this is raise-your-glass music. And it's going to be a great addition to the roster. The Mickey Finns are Ray Kelly, Brian Tracey, and Matt Mancuso and the Saturday night house band at the legendary Paddy Reilly’s in New York.
Ray Kelly – guitar and vocals
Direct from Whitegate, Co. Clare, Ray Kelly brings to The Mickey Finns a hard-edged voice and biting guitar that he honed with his years with The Boatmen, in Ireland, and The Prodigals, in NYC.
Matt Mancuso – fiddle, guitar and vocals
All-Ireland fiddle champion, Matt Mancuso comes to the Finns after honing his skills with Raglan Road and touring as the lead fiddler in Lord of the Dance. In addition to the fiddle, you might catch Matt on guitar, octave mandolin, or trumpet.
Brian Tracey – percussion and vocals
After many years with The Prodigals, Brian is back on stage with a wide array of percussion instruments.
Ready for a preview? Ready for Irish Fest? Me too. Here they are from an appearance at the great Weston Irish Fest.
