On these cold winter evenings, what's the one thing you find yourself craving, the one thing that can get you warmed up?
Okay, what's the one thing you find yourself craving that doesn't have alcohol in it?
That's right, chili. And chili you shall have, my friend. The fine gentlemen at the Ancient Order of Hibernians will see to it. Tomorrow, Friday January 7th the AOH presents the 2011 Chuck Wagon Chili Dinner from 5:00 to 9:00 PM in John J Sullivan Hall at Redemptorist Church, Linwood and Broadway. Just $6.00 gets you all you can eat for adults and only $3.00 all you can eat for kids. And yes, those alcohol-based warming things will be available too, because I'm fairly certain there's a federal law against serving chili without beer. There certainly ought to be.
Proceeds from this event benefit F.I.R.E & Hibernian Charities. Irish Balladeer Denny Lowe will sing a selection of Irish odes to chili, such old favorites as "I'll Take You Home Again, Chileen", "An Poc Ar Chili", "The Beans Of Armagh", and "The Galway Races to The Bathroom."
As if all that wasn't enough to entice you, there'll be raffle prizes too. So gather up the kids and head to Midtown tomorrow night. It's supposed be 22ยบ here in Cowtown. Let's get something warm in us.
