Up Gaelic

I ran into the Pride of Donegal, George Vial at the Browne's hooley on Saturday and he asked me to help spread the word about the big Roasterie Cup Gaelic Football Tournament coming up this weekend. And so I shall.
"Please join us June 26th 2010 in Swope Park at the KC Wizard's facility for our second annual Gaelic Football Tournament.

This year we will have teams from Minneapolis-St. Paul, Little Rock and Kansas City competing for the Roasterie Cup. Last year The KCGAC Wolfhounds took the top honors and again will be the team to beat in this highly contested tournament honoring the national sport of Ireland.

Activities will commence at 9:00am with a parade of teams and singing of the national anthems of Ireland and the USA. Local Irish businesses will have merchandise for sale, The Irish Museum and Cultural Center will be there to provide information on the homeland and about Irish cultural events in the metro area. Bring the kids because we will have a bouncing castle for the young ones. The Roasterie will be on site with their streamline trailer providing ice-coffee and refreshment.

Don't pack a lunch 'cause Chris Cakes will be there providing all-you-can-eat hamburgers, hotdogs and other goodies for $7.

And of course on the field will be non-stop Gaelic Football action.

Join us for the after-party and award ceremony at the new Mike's Tavern, 55th and Troost, owned by Irishman Ray Dunlea for a nice pint of Boulevard beer."

Sounds like a plan. Head out to Swope Park and support Irish sport in Kansas City. And of course if you're interested in playing, they're always looking for new talent. Get deatils on practice times, the tournament and everything else you need to know at the organizations website.
