The Pitch

So Irish Fest went to the game last night for Tourism Night. Let's call it a mixed bag.
  • Good news! We had by far the best looking booth. Seriously, Drury Hotel guys? A bunch of soggy cardboard boxes filled with water bottles stacked up on your table? That's it?
  • Bad news! Thunder! Lightning! Driving rain!
  • Good news! The rain paused in time to start the game.
  • Bad news! The Royals still suck and lost after long rain delay.
  • Good news! I was interviewed on the JumboTron about the fest!
  • Bad news! There were about 22 people in the stands at the time.
  • Good news! Dollar Twinkie night! Dollar Twinkies!
  • Bad news! We only signed up 4 volunteers.
  • Good news! One of them was dressed in a metallic gold and blue Royalsman superhero costume, complete with cape and knee high white boots.
  • Bad news! Another of them was made up so we wouldn't have a blank sign up sheet to start with.
  • Good news! One of them was former Royals player and current good guy Greg Pryor who wrote "Beer" in the spot for "preferred job."
  • Bad news! The super hero guy said he probably wouldn't wear his superhero costume to Irish Fest.
  • Good news! A guy wearing a jacket labeled "Alcohol Consumption Compliance" told us that as Irish people, we were expected to drink two beers per inning per person, and three each in the 7th inning.
  • Bad news! We were unable to fully comply.
  • Good news! Beer bong in the parking lot!
  • Bad news! We we weren't invited to join in.
  • Good news! Costumed Snoopy and Charlie Brown characters!
  • Bad news! Charlie Brown walks into the women's bathroom across from us. Good grief.
  • Good news! As always, we had a great time.
Thanks to Sorcha Rua, Brandi(Such A Fine Girl), Liz O and special guest Tony The Celtic Tiger for coming out in the storm and giving it the old Irish Fest try. If you stayed home warm and dry last night andwould like to sign up to volunteer now, you can do so here. We open in 113 days!
