Try to keep up with Máirtín de Cógáin, I dare you.
The singer/musician/storyteller/actor/dancer/diesel mechanic* of the Fuchsia Band and Captain Mackey's Goatskin And String Band brings yet another project to town this weekend. Appropriately titled the Máirtín de Cógáin Project, it features your man along with Brian Miller on guitar, bouzouki and shruti box and Norah Rendell on flute and whistles. The show is this Sunday at The Irish Center in Union Station. Please note this a day-time show, 1:00 in the afternoon. Tickets are available at the door for $10, or $8 if you're a member of the Center, which you should be, in which case they're $8. You can become a member while you're there. The band will be previewing music from the soon to be released disc "From Cork With Love." And of course you can catch Máirtín along with Jimmy Crowley, one of the other Four Corkmen Of The Apocalypse, at the Kansas City Irish Fest in just 112 days.
The weather Sunday calls for thunderstorms and rain. What a perfect way to while away a stormy spring day.

Or you can watch a load of videos of their Jefferson City performance last night at www.irishfocusmedia.blogspot.com
Kevin and I are thinking of sponsoring a new Irish festival:
"Musicians Who Have Appeared With Mairtin de Cogain". Our count was above two dozen without even thinking hard. Now all we need is a venue and some volunteers. Dan?
