Brian Petrie

The Kansas City Irish Fest lost a great friend and supporter today with the passing of Brian Petrie. Brian, the younger brother of long time Irish Fest staffer Jeff Petrie, was 28. A fixture with his brother at Irish music performances at Irish Fest and beyond, and a special fan of the Elders, Brian's dry sense of humor and kind heart will be sorely missed by all of us who were lucky enough to have known him. All of us at the KC Irish Fest offer our sincere sympathy to Jeff and Brian's parents Jim and Kathy.

Slán agus beannacht leat. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

We'll miss you, Brian.

Brian's Favorite Quotations:

"Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd." -Voltaire

"No, no, no, Lisa. If adults don't like their jobs, they don't go on strike. They just go in every day and do it really half-assed. That's the American Way."
-Homer Simpson

"The absurd is a shadow cast over everything we do. And even if we choose to live as if life has a meaning, as if there are reasons for doing things, the absurd will linger in the back of our minds as a nagging doubt that perhaps there is no point."
-Albert Camus

"The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong."
-Gandhi

May you be as free in body, as you you were in spirit. Lisa

I cant imagine the loss the Petrie family must be feeling. I had only just begun to scratch the surface of getting to know Brian and feel like i missed out on so much...
