Baseball, Or Something Like It

Our baseball team here in Kansas City is bad. Really bad. And they've been bad for a really long time. Frustrating? Hell yes, it's frustrating. I was in college when the Royals won their only World Series and that was a looong time ago. We've reached the point where avoiding 100 losses counts as a successful season. We stink.

And yet. I love going to the game. It's still baseball. It's still about the most fun you can have on a summer night, unless it happens to be Labor Day weekend of course. Tonight representatives of the Kansas City Irish Fest will be at the game getting the word out about the fest, signing up volunteers, even giving away some stuff, as part of the Royals annual Tourism Night. This is when we, along with people from other events like ours, set up shop beyond the outfield wall to let people know what we offer on those days when you don't feel like catching a ball game.

So come see Sorcha Rua, Liz O, Brandi (WhatAFineGirl), and me tonight. Look for our big Irish in Baseball display. After all, baseball is an Irish sport.

Funny little show. But it stops when the ball lands in the cup.
