Having lived on Earth for most of my life, I'm excited about celebrating Earth Day today. In a few minutes, in an annual Earth Day ritual for my family I'll be going out to the park to find a beautiful young tree–symbol of spring time life and renewal– and then chop it down and bring it back to the house to put it in the living room and decorate it. This year I made a bunch of ornaments out of old plastic water bottles. That way I can just throw them away when I pitch the tree in a week or so. And today I'll only eat using disposable plastic plates and forks to save on precious water and soap resources. Why? Because I can, that's why. Earth Day is about caring.
Seriously though, I'll do none of those things because all of us at Irish Fest are huge fans of an domhan and since it's where we hold our festival ever year (the after-parties occasionally end up elsewhere) we want to do our part to protect it. That's why our awesome recycling empress Natalie is working on a partnership with wonderful local company Ripple Glass to increase our glass recycling at the fest this year. We're determined to be the greenest festival in Kansas City in more ways than one. Of course, none of this works without you, fellow Earth citizen. When you're at Irish Fest, use those 70 recycling bins for your plastic soda bottles and beer cups. Drop your program in the paper recycling bins as you leave, if you're not saving it for the next day. Help us help your home planet.
