Because it's Monday and it's cold and dark and snowing and winter just will not let go, I'm giving you a little day brightener: an early band announcement. You're welcome.
Sometimes bands we bring here, great as they may be, just don't click with our audiences. It's rare, but it happens every once in awhile. The all important connection between performer and patron for whatever reason just doesn't happen. Then there are the other extremes. The bands or solo artists that come in here and wrap KC around their little fingers. The artists who make Cowtown their own and become locals who just happen to live somewhere else. Today's band falls firmly into that latter category.
Pogey.
When we first found them in Brian Doherty's Auld Triangle Pub in Halifax, we knew they were good. We knew they were fun. But we had no idea that our Kansas City Irish audiences would adopt these boys like they were homeless puppies. Their shows here have made just about everybody's list of favorites, and with good reason. They're master musicians, consummate performers and genuinely love what they're doing when they take the stage. That's an unbeatable combination. We're very happy to bring them back from Canada to their summer home here in Kansas City for 2010.
