Maybe it's because Valentine's Day is just around the corner, but I'm just all full of love and affection this week. Or something. Whatever I'm full of, the result is that you, a stór mo chroí, get a gift. No candy, no flowers. Another band announcement. And you didn't think I cared.
Girsa.
Eight young women from the Irish heart of Rockland County, New York, Girsa look like angels, play traditional Irish music like demons, and sing like larks. They're beginning to garner a lot of attention on the Irish Fest circuit and I think you're going to love these girls. Please welcome Girsa (Irish for 'young girls) to the 2010 Kansas City Irish Fest.

Wow - just listened to the clips, and loved "Immigant Eyes". Really looking forward to seeing these ladies play!
Hooray, a group of all girls!
Great stuff! Great video as well. My mother, Rita Mary Callahan, youngest of 12 children in the Callahan family from New London, Connecticut, worked at Ellis Island as an admitting nurse for several years fresh out of the famous St. Mary's Irish Nurse training college. She spent her days processing new Americans at a nursing station that was probably right about where the girls are standing in the video. She loved her job at Ellis Island but the Japanese had other plans and when they bombed Pearl Harbor she and her entire St. Mary's graduating class volunteered for the Army. Mom spent the next 4 years as a 'Hot lips Hoolihan' running a MASH unit in the South Pacific and taking care of the boys from Guam, Gudacanal, and other South Pacific vacation spots. So here's to ya, girls, for your excellent choice for a place to film your video. Looking forward to seeing y'all perform LIVE in the Midwest!
