A couple days ago my son Tommy was trying to convince Mrs. Bloggy and I that the cold we were feeling was all in our heads. Says he, if you don't think you're cold, you won't be. To illustrate, he says: "Papa...you're in a pub in Ireland. You're sitting by the fire and you have a beer and there are musicians playing and you're nice and warm."
So I thought it. I concentrated. And you know what? Tommy's full of it. I was still freezing my keister off and now my brain hurt from all that thinking. Now had I been in an actual Irish pub listening to actual Irish music with an actual beer...well, now we're talking. Such are the conditions you'll find at the newish place in town, Waxy O'Shea's, 11900 Shawnee Mission Parkway in the JoCo 'burbs Saturday night when Irish Fest alums Kelly take the stage.
Go there for the craic and ceol, and I promise Kelly Dougherty's lovely voice will warm you way better than any of my knuckleheaded son's harebrained ideas. Show starts at 8:00.
