All Over But The Shouting

The polls are closed now for the Irish Music Awards and all that awaits now is the drama, the trophies, the speeches and –duh– the music. See, when you head up to Weston for the awards ceremony on the 27th of this month, the stage won't just be occupied by people handing out awards to deserving winners and polite applause. Performances are scheduled by balladeer Rob Gavin, tenor Michael Coakley, button accordionist John Whelan, uileann piper Tim Britton, harpist Darren Raliegh, and young fiddler Quinn Patrick O'Malley. Will there also be some surprises on stage? I wouldn't be surprised...if that's not too contradictory. And of course, once the awards ceremony is over, the session begins so bring your fiddle, guitar, banjo, bouzouki or tuba when you come up. I was at a session one night in Milwaukee where somebody brought a tuba, no kidding. It worked better than you might imagine.

The IMA Awards are presented at O'Malley's in Weston MO and I hope to see you there. Get all the details your heart desires right here.

I see on the IMA site there will be a webcast of the awards, so those of us who can't be there can still enjoy them. BTW, Dan pay particular attention to Tim Britton's piping. The man plays like an angel! Love to see him at KCIF sometime.
