Today, right now in fact Kansas City Irish Fest's team is competing in the St. Patrick's Day Parade committee's annual "Rub O' The Green" golf tournament. Keli, Laren, Melissa and Sarah are I'm sure destroying their competition and scoring lots of...um...
Okay, I'm not a golfer. Not only am I not a golfer, it's a sport I am almost completely ignorant of. For instance while I'm sure the phrase "Rub O' The Green" has some golfing significance that one of you can explain to me, it sounds kind of disgusting or possibly dirty. Plus the tournament has something called a "shotgun start" and "a four person scramble" which presumably takes place immediately after they fire the shotgun, which sounds a little dangerous. But we at Irish Fest are happy to support our buddies at the parade in their event.
The Kansas City St. Patrick's Day Parade is just one of the great Irish organizations that you'll be able to visit with at Irish Fest this year. The Ancient Order of Hibernians, The Harp and Shamrock Club, The Irish Museum and Cultural Center, The Celtic Fringe, The KC Gaelic Athletic Club and many more will be there to educate you on their group and hopefully get you involved in the great work (and play) they do for our Celtic community. Be sure and stop by and see them, one and all.
