MacKenzie Magwire, president of the Kansas City Irish Fest Kids Club has this report on their recent meeting and some of the great things they have planned for the younger members of your family.
The recent meeting of the KCIF Kid's Club was an exciting three hour meeting with the members anxious to make sure all the kids at the 2009 Irish Fest have a memorable experience. The team reviewed all of the ideas sent in during last years Fest and are trying to make sure that good ideas are implemented and that areas are fine-tuned that needed improvement.
Some of the changes: Expansion of the Washington Park Kids Tent, Expansion of Art-Rageous in the Main Children's Tent (and you should see the crafts this year), more Face Painters, more Wackalaylees, the Kids tried the brand new BINGO machine (and approved), special Wonderscope area for Toddlers, and this is just the beginning of their ideas.
Michael is so excited about Barry Fitzgerald returning, he thought he should spend his weekend as Barry's personal Fest Escort, look for Kate, MacKenzie, and Michayla in the park and Jake, Mikayla, Erin, Joseph, Kelsey, Maura, Maddie in the main tent and watch for our fairy this year who will be helping distribute balloons. And you may be greeted anytime by Cassie, Q and Charlie, and don't forget Michael, just find Barry Fitzgerald performing and Michael will be there. These young people are ready and willing to help with all of your Children's needs and wants at the Fest and welcome all good ideas!
The Big Kid in Charge did want to send a message to Mike, Bob, Steve, Dave, Seamus, and Rob to let them know that we are sorry, but we are not going to do an all adult Wackalaylee with beer tokens this year. Although the other kids thought that they could charge A LOT money for this as they want to start the 'BRING BACK FIREWORKS Fund' this year as their special mission for 2010.
Watch the website for our Stage schedule and the schedule of events in the Children's Area. And let us know if you have any questions.
MacKenzie - President KCIFKC (and Shawn, the grown up)
