Happy U2 Day

U2's 12th album "No Line On The Horizon" is released today. And for the 7th consecutive year the band has rejected our fat 4 figure offer to play the Kansas City Irish Fest. I don't know what the hell is wrong with those guys. We were even going to throw in free beer this year!

Are you supposed to be discussing performer fees on a public forum?

But I didn't give the actual amount we offered them, $1250.00!

...oops.

Did the $1250 include hotel rooms?
If it did... are you sure they were fully aware of that? Maybe that was the problem.

Good point, Kevin. Actually, no we sort assumed they'd stay on their big fancy bus or something. Damn. Next year we'll throw in the hotel.

Ya know how Bono's, like, all into saving the poor people and stuff? Perhaps in your next proposal, you could throw in some face-time with the local, errrm, inhabitants of Washington Park? I bet Bono would give them all of his free beer. See? Everybody wins! Ta-da!

I just now saw U2 perform a cut from their new CD live on the David Letterman Late Night Show.

I'd keep the hotel rooms in the deal but I'd drop back to an even $1,000.

Yet we outsource for a U2 tribute band..why is that? Being a local music fan, I have seen KC's Rattle and Hum several times, not just in dive bars, but in places like Kauffman Stadium and at a fundraiser at the Liberty Memorial. I am not a groupie, and to be fair I saw 2U last year at the fest. Good, but not nearly as talented as Rattle and Hum...and not from Kansas City. The boys in R and H deserve to be on the stage built for them, Irish Fest would be their perfect venue.
