If you picked up a copy of the Kansas City Star today you saw the headline, right there on the front page: The St. Patrick's Day parade is leaving downtown and relocating to my home neighborhood, Westport, the ancestral home of the Irish in Kansas City. The parade is of course headed this year by our own Erin Kiekbusch.
Personally, I applaud the decision to head South. And not just because it's closer to my house (though that's nice, too). The parade at its core is an expression of pride by the people who populate the Irish neighborhoods of our town. Putting it back into those neighborhoods to me is a great gesture.
Your Irish Fest will be there, with a float even better than last year's division-winning entry. A float that redefine forever how parade floats are judged. A float that will change the way you look at parades, whose concept and execution will set a new standard for big silly looking things rolling down city streets.
As soon as we come up with an idea.

Oh please, oh please, oh please let's do a "covered wagon" theme.... you know, like as a PSA to what could happen to your loved one after you enjoy a night filled with BLVD Stouts.
