More Parade Details

From our friends at the Kansas City St. Patrick's Day Parade:

New Parade Route
The 36th Annual Kansas City St. Patrick's Day Parade will step-off at the corner of Linwood and Broadway in front of Redemptorist Church and the VFW headquarters. The route will continue South on Broadway for 1.3 miles and disburse at 43rd Street in front of the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial.

This is the first major route change since 1996 when the Parade was also on Broadway in Downtown. The move to Midtown allows us to create ties with the surrounding neighborhoods and encourage the family atmosphere we strive to have with our parade. It also allows us new opportunities for sponsorships and partnerships with companies in the Midtown area.

We will be having a Press Conference Monday morning at 11:00am at the Irish Museum to announce the new route. Anyone that is available to attend is welcome.

2009 Parade Theme
As voted on by you the Parade Committee, the theme for the 2009 Parade will be:

Pioneering Spirit - The Irish in Kansas City

This ties in nicely with the history of the Midtown/Westport area as well as reflects a year of change and pioneering in the Parade itself.
