Fair enough. I know he isn't everybody's cup of whiskey, but give a listen to his new CD "Rocky Road" before you write him off completely. It's a collection of mostly traditional Irish songs and it's great...in my opinion anyway.
I can see why some people might not like Damien Dempsey. His voice is very powerful and clear, but he does have that sort of offkilter vocal style. I think in some songs it works really well. Other songs not so much. Also every once in awhile he has a lyric that makes me cringe. For example, in Negative Vibes he repeats the line "lord give me the strength to be strong". It's quite redundant. But then you have a song like "Your Pretty Smile" where the music and lyrics come together nicely and it's fecking perfect.

Here Here Danny! Having Damo on the lineup is yet another reason for me to love the KC Irish Fest.
