Volunteer News

I'm going to declare this Volunteer Day at Tir na Blog, because I've got all kinds of things to tell you today about the joys of volunteering at the Kansas City Irish Fest. If you've been on the the fence about volunteering this year, I'm going to knock you off with a great big metaphorical 2x4.

First off, an announcement. We're excited to begin in 2008 a long overdue Volunteer Of The Year award. The P.J. Cullinan Award, named for our recently lost friend and long time Irish Fest volunteer will be presented for the first time in 2008. And shouldn't it be you who wins it? Irish Fest committee chairs and board members will be nominating volunteers who go above and beyond the call of Irish Fest duty and the winner will be presented with the award a volunteer appreciation event this fall.

How to win? I'd say follow the example of the great man we've named the prize for. Work hard. Love what you're doing and show it. Smile. Laugh. Have more fun than anybody else around you and share that joy with them. Do more than is expected.

Believe me, we'll notice.
