Weekend Deal

Monday it is and that means the weekend is just around the corner. Or close enough anyway. And this weekend is an exciting one for Kansas City's Irish community as Browne's Irish Market and Deli celebrates their 121st birthday on Saturday.

And who gets the birthday present at this shindig? You do, my friend, you do. If you come by the Kansas City Irish Fest tent on Saturday that is. Because on that Saturday and on that Saturday only you can not only become a charter member of Irish Fest's new club, The Snug, but you can do it at a big discount. A weekend pass to The Snug will run you $250 any other of the day of the year. But be among the first to claim membership on Saturday and you'll pay only $200. That's $200 for all this:

•Festival admission every minute Irish Fest is open, from 5:00 Friday until 11:00 Sunday.
•Unlimited access to the private Snug tent, its seating, bar and restrooms.
•A limited edition Snug T-shirt.
•A signed Irish Fest poster.
•10 drink tickets a day (5 on Friday) redeemable for beer, wine, soda, whatever, inside or outside The Snug.
•Complimentary snacks and visits from Irish Fest performers.
• Lots of priceless space, shade, and seating.

Now lest you think this is some hoidy-toidy Bill Gates deep-pockets country club thing, think about this:

•Irish Fest Admission-$30
•25 drink tickets-$25
•T-shirt-$15
•Signed poster-$5
•Weekend's worth of snacks-$10
•Space, shade, seating-priceless
•No restroom lines-priceless
•No beverage lines-priceless
•Access to Irish Fest performers-priceless

I'm not saying you'd be crazy to pass it up, but...okay, I'm saying it. You'd be crazy to pass it up.

Saturday only. Cash and checks only for this discount. Browne's Irish Street Fair only. See you there.

I would argue that the signed poster is more like pricelss rather than $5! :-)

Danny, don't the Browne's Mkt. sign-ups also get a KCIF-hat -- didn't we say? An added bonus! A bargain at twice the price! Come on down!

A few questions...

What is a "Premimum Drink?"

At 25 for $150 that is SIX DOLLARS per drink.

Is that going to be the average cost of a Beer this year? Is that also the expected price tag for the LARGE sodas and Lemonades?
Yikes.

I know the 'tickets' will be sold in 1$ increments but I haven't seen any detail on what the breakdown will be for all the various drinkables. Is that known yet?

Regarding the $200 SNUG special... us out-of-townies can't get there to take advantage of that but given that fact that if you are staying at one of the festival hotels your tickets are already free... can that same SNUG deal be extended to anyone staying at one of the festival hotels?

That's a $30 savings that doesn't apply to anyone already booked into one of the festival hotels so any chance of a break on the SNUG membership for those folks?

The whole SNUG thing is probably most attractive to out-of-towners but with the price of gas this year and the huge cost of even GETTING there it would be nice to find a little price break somewhere on the business end of the trip.

Relax. We have no plans to increase beverage prices. A large Boulevard Beer is $6 (last year they were in the souvenir cups), just as it was last year. We have never offered large (or medium or small, for that matter) lemonade or soda. Soda and water are in 20 oz. bottles, as always. We don't sell lemonade. As far as hotel guests, since the festival tickets they get are free anyway, we won't be offering further discounts on Snug membership to ofset that expense. Having said that, to be fair to out-of-town friends who want to take advantage of the Browne's discount on Snug membership, we'll extend it to you too, through Saturday only. Contact Carol at cbraun@cimlbr.com for deatils.

Crap. Sorry about the speling.

That should have been

What is a "Premium Drink"?

and "...given THE fact...".

Typing too fast today.

Thanks for the reply Dan, and
thanks for the extension of
the Browne's deal to out-of-towners. We are gonna get killed just getting there this year so every little bit helps.

Regarding lemonade... I guess I was referring to those great fresh-squeezed deals from the vendors over by the Terrace stage.

Are they actually going to be there again and will they be taking tickets or cash? What's up with them? Can't drink been all weekend and that's always been a popular second choice.

That great lemonade comes from Scimeca's Italian Sausage, and they will be back. Though not the most Irish of our partners, you can't beat that food...or the lemonade. All our food vendors will be accepting cash. The tickets will be used in Irish Fest beverage tents only.

Ah!... Okay. Great. Thanks.
Good to know.

So if you don't want a beer
for the moment and you don't
want to fool with the ticket
thing then you can still get
drinks with cash from the
OTHER folks just as always.

That's what was confusing me is
whether ALL DRINKS needed tickets
all day long or not.

I'm glad that's not the case.

Something tells me the whole
ticket scheme thing is going to
need that kind of 'safety valve'
for folks who do NOT want a beer.
