When we opened up the grant process last year, we truly had no idea what kind of grant requests to expect. Our goal was to award grants to those whose grant request most closely matched our festival mission statement. But with no previous experience to use as a guide, the Grant Advisory Board just sat and waited to see what type of requests would come in through the website. It was very impressive to see both the quantity and the quality of the grant requests submitted last year. We greatly appreciate all of the time and effort of all of those who submitted a grant request for the 2008 calendar year.
The Grant Advisory Board is currently getting ready for its second year of receiving and reviewing grant requests. It won’t be long until we open up the website once again for individuals and for 501C3’s to submit their grant requests. As you are getting ready to submit your requests for 2009, there are a few important things to keep in mind. Use the Grant Tab of the KCIF website to submit your grant request. To be considered for review by the Grant Advisory Board, all grant requests must be for events that occur only during the 2009 calendar year. The maximum amount for grants is $1,500 for individuals and $3,500 for 501C3’s. Use the Grant Tab of the KCIF website as a guide for your request. Our website provides the parameters of the grants, the KCIF Mission Statement the Grant Advisory Board uses as a guide, and a clarification of requests not eligible for review.
Look for the Grant Tab of the KCIF website to be updated in the next few weeks in preparation for the 2009 process. We will open up the Grant Tab of the website to receive 2009 grant requests in mid-July. The last day to submit a request will be September 30, 2008. Those chosen to receive a grant will be contacted by mid-November.
You’ve got some time to put together your grant request. Good luck!
