Ed Said #26

Kansas City Irish Fest President Ed Scanlon has beer on his mind, by which I mean he's thinking about beer, not that he's been drinking at 11:00 AM on a Monday. Not that I'd know, I guess. At any rate, Ed's got something to say and I'm going to let him say it:
Over the weekend I was driving on the highway and saw a billboard that nearly cause me to crash the Honda. Yep I was shocked! A giant picture of a bottle of Orange Grapefruit flavored beer. What in the world is up with that. Budweiser is brewing some rather odd things over in St. Louis; blueberry beer, pomegranate raseberry, lime cactus (What the hell does cactus taste like and how many people know?) and Bud Light with Lime. Currently people are raising loud voices saying that if Budweiser sells to a foreign country they are selling out an American Icon. Yeah right! They have sold out the day they bottle a bottle of blueberry beer. Don't get me wrong blueberries are great-pie, pancakes and muffins, nice stuff. Kansas City Irish Fest has the distinct honor to serve Boulevard Beers brewed in Kansas City almost walking distance from the Festival grounds. During all my travels by the Brewery never have I seen a truck load of blueberries or cactus being unloaded. Kansas City owned, Kansas City brewed and poured proudly at Kansas City Irish fest. I don't think (Boulevard Brewing V.P.) Bob Sullivan would ever consider selling out the Icon of an ice cold beer that tastes like beer to makers of Kool Aid and come up with grape beer. Excuse me, I'm off to have a ice cold Boulevard Pale Ale. Why? Because it tastes like beer, great beer, not like my breakfast of blueberry pancakes and orange juice. Thank you Sully! Great Stuff!

Didn't we already visit this silly issue? get a life, beer is just not or in fact shouldn't be, that important. A day sober of any flavor is better, & any number of things to spend time & energy discussing besides this.

Anonymous 1:29 PM-

Find another party to poop on- you’ve been bounced out of this one. Go spend your precious time & energy elsewhere! If you don't want to discuss how great Boulevard beer is- then don't! But don't tell us we can't.

Beer not that important?? That sound you hear is my father spinning in his grave.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is a blog about the Irish Fest and with all things Irish, comes beer...so when one visits the blog about all things Irishfest in KC, one must be prepared to read about and/or discuss beer.

I just woke up while sitting here at Kelly's in Westport wondering what happend this morning that beer is no longer important. The poor person who thinks we are worrying about beer too much no doubt thinks Irish music should be played only in the church on Main Street and we all should sit like polite little children and enjoy ourselves... but not too much cuz you know what that leads to.

I think what Anonymous meant to say was "Get a beer, life is just not or in fact shouldn't be, that important."

That's what I'd say anyway.

Opinions are like orifices. Everyone's got 'em. Some are just louder than others. But they're all necessary.

'S all good, people.
