Won and Done

The verdict is in from our nameless, mysterious limerick judge. Your honor, the blog is yours.
My apologies to the contestants for taking an extra coupla days and thereby creating unnecessary limerick angst and suspense. And now, without further ado....

The scores have been tallied at last,
And the vote for the winner is cast--
The verse about Shea
With its "harpy" word play
Is the one that could not be surpassed!

Congrats to the contestant who successfully combined Irish music, impeccable meter, and (most importantly) beer into a limerick. Cheers (or "Slainte," in this case) to you!

Also, job well done to the other contestants. I had fun reading your entries!

Here, the aforementioned winning entry, submitted by Joe in Wichita, Kansas:

A superstar harpist named Shea
Said his skill was known far and away.
“I’m the certified champ,
“But I don’t need no amp
“Cause my Harp ain’t the kind that you play.”
Nicely done. Joe will be getting that swanky Irish Fest cow sticker and two tickets to this year's fest. Our judge will get some nice prize, too, though I haven't decided what yet. Maybe a real cow. Anyway, thanks to all the poets who entered. I'll be publishing the other limericks over the coming 100 days to get you all excited, poetically, for Irish Fest.

So.... Harps beer will be available at KC Irishfest this year?

Cool.

The Kansas City Irish Fest will once again be brought to you by our friends at the Boulevard Brewing Company, this poet's musings aside. No Harp.

That was a lame limerick.
