Today Irish Fest president Ed "Said" Scanlon will represent KCIF at the Kansas City Convention and Visitors Association awards luncheon to see if we won the Best Festival crown for a second year, or if those white wine sipping snooty patooties down at the Plaza Art Fair have wrested it from us. Or maybe those hayseeds down at the American Royal, or the cod piece wearing huzzah-heads at the Ren Fest. Or the, uh, Harry Truman impersonators at Santa-Cali-Gon Days in Independence. Okay, actually, I've never been to that one. It's the same weekend as Irish Fest. I have no idea what goes on out there.
I'm only teasing those other fine festivals of course. I'm sure their organizers are very fine people who are nice to their mothers and work just as hard as we do on their events. I wish them great success, and except Santa-Cali-Gon Days, I'll more than likely go and enjoy myself. I just don't want them to win.
So Ed, bring us home a winner. And if you happen to sit next to somebody from Santa-Cali-Gon Days, get some info for me so I can more accurately insult them next year. In a good natured, joking way, of course.
