Did you turn your lights off for an hour last night in participation with the worldwide energy conservation effort Earth Hour? Then you, my green friend, have found your home at the 2008 Kansas City Irish Fest.
The Recycling Committee
Award-winning in its very first year in 2007, and once again captained by that captivating Countess of Conservation Natalie Smith, the men and women of the Recycling Committee are saving Mother Earth, one plastic bottle at a time. These are the eco-warriors, the tough but caring nurturers of the planet. Boasting more advanced degrees per capita than any other Irish Fest committee*, the Recyclers are also a fun loving bunch who never let a little Earth saving get in the way of a good time. Why, Natalie herself came from the ranks of our bartenders, which ought to tell you something.
More than 1000 cubic yards of plastic beverage bottles were spared from landfills last year, earning Irish Fest the Green Event award from the Mid America Regional Council. Our goal is to significantly best that in 2008.
You've bought the funny looking light bulbs. You compost your leaves. You use a goat instead of a lawnmower. You save rain water. And you belong on the Recycling Committee. Some light lifting and significant walking may be required.
Sign up and join the greenest of the green, April 1st.
