Polls Open

A sports columnist in our local newspaper yesterday confessed that he was a "nonvoting casual observer" of the political process. He then went on to spout off about the political process. What an idiot.

My fellow citizens, you need to vote. It's a hard-fought right. It's an obligation. It's a solemn duty, especially in America in these big presidential election years. That particular election is some months off yet, but you can exercise your right to vote today, right now, by voting for the Kansas City Irish Fest in the annual Visitors Choice Awards.

We're nominated for Favorite Festival Or Special Event, a category in which we are currently incumbent. Voting closes when the month of April does, so you've got just a shade over four weeks. The catch is that only votes from outside the 5 county metro area will count. They aren't the Residents Choice Awards, after all. So if you live out there in Elsewhere and love Irish Fest, vote today. If you live here, tell your out-of-town friends. Tell your far-away family. Don't be a nonvoting casual observer.

Vote for Irish Fest!
