The DL

Here at Irish Fest, we have a small, elite group of extremely influential people. They meet, brainstorm, ponder, consider and make the bold moves and hard decisions that push Irish Fest forward. They are the movers and the shakers, the wizards behind the curtain.

The board of directors? No, they're a bunch of yahoos. I'm talking about the Kansas City Irish Fest Kids Club. These pint-sized pundits make sure that our kids' area is as fun and goofy and silly as it can be by telling the grown ups exactly what kids want and what they don't want. For instance, last year I pitched an idea for a boiled cabbage eating contest. The Kids Club politely informed me that I should go back to drawing cows.

Well, today, I'm sad to report that a key member of that elite group is on injured reserve. Cassie Groves, daughter of Irish Fest Contests boss Cami Travis-Groves broke her arm while jumping her motorcycle over a dozen flaming buses full of sharks. Or maybe by jumping her scooter over a curb. It was one of those, I'm pretty sure. Anyway, Cassie is laid up as a result. She's a great kid and a valuable member of the KCIF team and all of us at Irish Fest and Kids Club wish her a complete and speedy recovery.

Get well soon, Cassie!

Regan pushed her. He hates kids. And some kids hate him too. He thinks kids are stupid.

Most kids. Not Cassie.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. Cassie is finally at home after 26 hours in the hospital (although she's already missing Cartoon Network), she's heavily drugged and resting as well as can be expected. And she said it might have been sharks, but it's all kind of fuzzy.
