You Should Be Dancing

Can I gently remind you fellas of something? The girls too, but I really need you dudes to sharpie this on to your calendars.

The St. Patrick's Day Senior Ball is coming up soon and we need you to come trip the light geriatric with us. There are always lots of willing ladies, dressed to the nines, with smiles like 100 watt bulbs, waiting for dance partners. There are never enough young (or not-so-young) men to escort them to the floor. If you can get away for an hour or two on a Thursday afternoon, please come. Rudimentary dancing skills are all that are necessary. Hell, they let me do it. A few years ago I danced with a woman in her 80's who had recently had both knees replaced. Our dance was much more standing and visiting than it was Astaire and Rogers. But it was great, and this is a great event.

Brought to you by the 7 O'Neill Brothers and their families, including Irish Fest founding board member Pat O'Neill, in memory of their father, St. Patrick's Day parade co-founder Pat O'Neill Sr., the 8th Annual St. Pat's Senior Ball will take place Thursday, March 13, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cristo Rey School (Redemptorist) Gymnasium, 211 West Linwood at Broadway. Extra parking will be available across Linwood at McGilley’s funeral home.

Groups or organizations are asked to RSVP before March 7 by calling Carol Perryman (816) 931-9942.

I'm not sure how I feel about that "extra parking"...
