Drama

The American Academy Award nominations came out the other day, for those of you who care about that sort of thing. Among the honorees, Armagh man Seamus McGarvey, nominated in the Best Cinematography category for his work on the movie "Atonement", Saoirse Ronan, only 13 years old, from Co Carlow is up for best supporting actress in the same film, and the song "Falling Slowly" from the Dublin-based film "Once" and co-written by Frames frontman and film co-star Glen Hansard. Additionally, Daniel Day Lewis, who lives in Co Wicklow, is nominated as best lead actor in "There Will be Blood".

In more Kansas City Irish Fest-centric drama news, the new live theater here at our home in Crown Center has opened with Irish author Samuel Beckett's play “Krapp’s Last Tape.”

You know, I think a great idea would be a movie about the Kansas City Irish Fest. We got all kinds of drama here. Or it could be a madcap comedy. The big question is casting. Who would you cast as, say president Ed Scanlon? VP Ed Follis? Executive director Keli Wenzel? You can find a picture of the staff on our homepage, and the directors are there in the front row.

In the role of Uncle Bloggy, I'm thinking this guy.

Ronan-Harvey Fierstein. Hysterical! And, uh, I might have to be recast.

Danny. Heath Ledger. I guess you figured out how to get over Ed F.

I think Laren needs to be a little closer to her age -- Sandra Bullock

My vote is Julia Louis-Dreyfus for Erin, Charlize Theron for Keli, Sandra Bullock for Laren, and Susan Sarandon for Mary Alice. Trained chimps for all the guys.

Irish Fest board girls are hot.
