Christmas is still a little ways off yet...lucky for me since I have yet to even think about shopping. But as much as I like all the decking of halls and ho-ho-hos and jingling of bells, to be honest with you I'm looking right past the 25th and all its jolliness. I'm thinking about my annual trip back in time in early January. That's when for one night (okay, two, but I'm only going once) the years slide away and The Elders, not yet Celtic rock superstars are playing another gig at Molloy Bros. Irish Pub, not yet RecordBar. Back when Irish Fest meant neighborhood parking lot parties and my sons were not yet surly teenagers. If you only know the Elders from their annual blow-out at Irish Fest, you should plan on getting aboard the time machine too. When they boys get back to their pub roots, it's something really special. This time around they're supported by the wonderful Beth Patterson, who's worth a trip to see all by her lonesome.
It's the Elders' 10th birthday and it will be a hooley. Moll...I mean RecordBar is at 1020 Westport Road, in that shopping center with the covered wagon on the corner. There's a $10 cover and believe me when I tell you to get there early.
