Fresh Feis Facts

My old pal Gordie Grohmann over at the Kansas City Feis has informed me that the date and place for their annual fund raiser have been set. The ceili is Sunday, December 30th at my old alma mater, Redemptorist School (now Cristo Rey) in the gymnasium where my dreams of athletic prowess died. Head that way from 1:00 to 7:00 PM for lots of dancing, a bake sale, beverages both hard and soft, and that great Irish tradition: a taco bar. There's also a "used shoe sale" being advertised so bring your used feet. If you're interested in becoming a feis volunteer, you can sign up for that, too. The feis, if you didn't know, is the Irish dance competition that's held in conjunction with Irish Fest each year and draws hundreds of Irish dancers to Kansas City from across the nation.

Cristo Rey School at Our Lady of Perpetual Help church is at the corner of Broadway and Linwood in the very heart of our great city. See yiz at the ceili.

ADDENDUM: Gordie has helpfully enlightened me on the aforementioned used shoe sale. The shoes Irish dancers wear are apparently a little on the pricey side when purchased brand new, so used shoes with life left in them are much in demand. So it's not any old brogans that will be for sale at the ceili, but Irish dancing shoes. My ignorance of this is to be chalked up to being the father of two boys and zero girls, and both boys as interested in learning Irish dance as they are in learning to clean their rooms, i.e. not at all. Thanks for the clarification, Gord.
