The recycling effort was indeed a huge success. Thanks to all of you for your help in making it so.Recycling is Important
I’m pleased to see The Star covering the story of recycling in Johnson County (11/26, A-1, “Paring our trash pile; Long-range plans could require more effort and cost but could pay off in reduction of waste”).
Recycling and waste reduction should be concerns of local government, individuals and organizations.
I am director of the Kansas City Irish Fest (Labor Day weekend). We chose this year to recycle the plastic water and soda bottles. Our first year’s efforts were met with excitement and an enthusiastic committee of volunteers. The result was an overwhelming success, with 1,000 cubic yards of plastic bottles not being buried in the local landfill for eternity.
The Kansas City Irish Fest really did go greener this year. We have already discussed plans for expanding this effort for 2008.

Tis a shame someone in that nifty building goofed on the typesetting. "I am director" was submitted "As a director"...it sounds like I'm the only one involved. God knows if it was only myself Irish fest would never ever happen. Too many really fantastic hard working people involved.

So it should have read: "As a director of the Kansas City Irish Fest (Labor Day weekend). We chose this year to recycle the plastic water and soda bottles."???
They goofed on the typesetting. Riiiiight...
Come on Ed! You know you're a one man show. You're The Decider!
