I hate the feckin' cars.
My old car is circling the drain, and so lately I've been spending a lot of time car shopping, an activity I place just above boil-lancing on the enjoyability scale. But you know, sometimes you need a car so you do what you gotta do. Ugh. Fortunately for you, whether Kansas Citian or visitor, no car is needed at Irish Fest.
If you're unfamiliar with our wonderful home in Crown Center, we're on the Southern edge of downtown Kansas City, Missouri, surrounded by a multi-use office, retail, residential and hotel complex. We have a mix of trees, grass, brick pavers and fountains. Tall buildings surround our surprisingly roomy grounds, making Irish Fest at once cozy and spacious. The Westin Hotel over looks us and the Hyatt is a short walk through an elevated covered path around the corner. Around the other corner is the spectacularly restored Union Station. If you're coming from St. Louis, Omaha, Wichita, Topeka, etc., consider taking a train in to K.C. Irish Fest weekend. You'll arrive within moseying distance of our front gate and our anchor hotels. If you're in town, the Max bus will drop you right in our lap, metaphorically, as it did me this morning (stupid cars) when I came into work. Whether local or visitor, a room at the Westin or Hyatt is an affordable must for Irish Fest weekend. And all the while, the old jalopy can sit home in the garage, burning nary a drop of $3 a gallon gas. To me, that sounds perfect.
Now: who's got a car for me?

I can thoroughly recommend the kind of car I drive. I've had it for ten years, it gets 28 miles to the gallon, it has 188,000 miles on it, and nothing major has had to be worked on or replaced. It's the famous Irish car, the O'Camry.
I love my O'Camry too. And the 2007 model is a new design. (They change every 5 years.) But somehow I see you as a Mini Cooper guy.
I don't think I'd fit in a Mini and a Camry won't really cut it either. Here's what I'm looking for:
1. Reasonable price (used).
2. Room to carry stuff.
3. Back seat leg room to accomodate two tall and growing boys.
4. Reasonably good gas mileage.
5. Reliable brand.
6. Suitable for occasional use on rough mountain roads.
What I've looked at: Subaru Forester, Honda Element, Ford Escape, Jeep Liberty.
Get a new pair of shoes or a bus pass.
DON'T BUY A FORD!!!
Ok, Danny. Try CarMax. They have many makes and models and truly are hassle-free. They have nice cars reasonably priced. You won't have to drive to the ends of the earth and ask, "Ok, exactly what part were you looking at when you decided to put "good condition" in the ad?"
